Julien Hallard made his directional debut with a trilogy of short movies shot in New York : « Brooklyn02 », « Valentine », and « Resurrection" were screened in the Locarno Film Festival and in the Venice Mostra.
In 2008, Hallard wrote and directed a medium length movie « Meeting Vincent Gallo » (in selection in Locarno and in the Miami Film Festival) in which he sat up his particular style : quirky humour, underdog characters, composed frames, and love for Pop culture.
In 2009, he filmed « Vinyl » and « Cheveu » both of them selected in Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. « Cheveu » also won the 2010 best short awarded by the French syndicate of cinema critics.
Hallard's last short movie « People are strange » was fund and broadcast by ARTE.
His first feature « Comme des garçons » (Let the girls play), a sixties feel good comedy, in selection at the Alpe d'Huez comedy Festival, came out in April 2018.
